A new home overlooking the Escalante National Monument, built in the National Park Service (NPS) Rustic style known as "Parkitecture." The style is infused with native materials and designed to blend into the landscape rather than impose upon it.

"The Black Boulder Mesa site is a wide-open expanse of Navajo slickrock with huge chunks of round black iron-rich rocks overlooking canyons, mountains, and rivers. This breathtaking site offered opportunities for expansive views, sunny, breezy-windy solitude, and called to be honored with a home that respected the materials of the place. The cruciform-shaped building countered the site with shade, windbreaks, and community with others. It provided protection from the elements, offering a seamless flow from outdoor to indoor rooms. This design allowed the inhabitants to nestle into a cozy place that's cool in the summer and sunny in the winter, protected from the wind and open to the breezes." – Sophia Rickard, Design Principal
